The God-Hunt

"Gods are ideas with teeth. If you mean to bite back, sharpen more than steel."
Brynd the Smith

Scenario Overview

Sessions

4-5 (16-20 hours)

Focus

Preparation, infiltration, first god kill

Structure

Node-based heist + multi-path boss

Stakes

Prove gods can die; choose what replaces them

Assemble the God-Killer

Weapon Core

Combine leviathan scale, giant steel, and a rune focus. Risk: exhaust resources.

Binding Rune

Craft a rune that names the target god. Risk: alerts ravens; advances Æsir Gaze clock.

Soul Cage

A vessel to catch divine essence. Risk: corruption if carried too long.

Infiltration Routes (Choose Two)

Enter the god's dreamscape via the God-Dream track. Skills: empathy, insight, surreal logic.

Boss Frame (Mix and Match)

Phases

Phase 1: Domain control (environment attacks). Phase 2: Aspect revealed (unique powers). Phase 3: Mortal form (bleeds, can die).

Win Conditions

Kill, bind, or bargain. Killing proves gods bleed; binding provides leverage; bargaining grants boons at corruption cost.

Clue Delivery

Show how worship feeds power via visible tethers to shrines. Break three tethers to weaken the god (Three Clue Rule).

Player Agency

Offer optional collateral damage: save civilians or secure the kill faster. Choices echo in the finale.

Clocks and Escalation

God Alert (6)

Alarms, failed stealth, or loud rituals fill this. At 6, reinforcements arrive and a new phase triggers.

Collateral (4)

Each innocent harmed ticks this. At 4, the moral cost colors endings.

Soul Cage Strain (4)

Holding divine essence stresses the cage. At 4, it cracks; decide who absorbs or releases it.

Printable Cards

Hand these to players to track assets and consequences they can bring into the finale.

Object

God-Killer Core

Leviathan scale + giant steel blank. Spend to gain +1 tier vs divine armor.

Power

Binding Rune

Name a god to lock them in place for one round; on use, tick Æsir Gaze.

Object

Soul Cage

Stores divine essence. Carrying it fills Soul Cage Strain when stressed.

Rule

Collateral Clause

If innocents are harmed, mark this card; it colors endings in the finale.

NPC

Valkyrie Mole

A turned valkyrie can delay reinforcements once or provide Asgard intel.

Rewards and Fallout

  • Proof gods can die: morale boost to allies, terror to the Æsir.
  • Divine essence captured: spend in finale to ascend, bargain, or weaponize.
  • Odin reacts: send ravens, seal Bifrost, or strike Volsprung. Set one new obstacle for the finale.
  • Player beliefs shift: update God-Dream tracks; grant boons or curses accordingly.

"The first god to fall teaches every mortal a new lesson: the sky was never locked."
