Synchronization is the art of aligning two domains' frequencies without merging them. It is a diplomatic and metaphysical alliance that allows for stable trade, travel, and shared power.
Harmonic Resonance
Establishing Sync
Synchronization requires deliberate effort. It is not accidental.
Methods of Syncing:
- The Anchor Ritual: Mages in both domains must cast a ritual simultaneously (TN 25 Arcana).
- Quantum Entanglement: An object is split in half, with one piece kept in the heart of each domain.
- The Count's Ledger: A contract is signed, binding the fates of the two realms.
Sync Effects
Benefits (The Major Chord)
- Portal Stability: Portals between synced domains never close or fluctuate.
- Shared Willpower: Domains can "loan" Willpower to each other in times of crisis.
- Blessing Exchange: Travelers can choose one Blessing from either domain to be active.
- Communication: Telepathy works across the boundary without penalty.
Risks (The Dissonance)
- Sympathetic Damage: If one domain suffers a catastrophe, the other takes 50% of the damage.
- Invasion Route: Enemies can move instantly between synced domains.
- Feedback Loop: If the sync breaks violently, both domains lose 1d4 Willpower.
Temporal Synchronization
Time Locking
Time flows differently in every domain of Nowhere Land. Synchronization locks their timelines together.
Puzzle Mechanic: The De-Sync
If the sync is damaged, time begins to slip.
- Round 1: 1 minute in Domain A = 1 hour in Domain B.
- Round 2: 1 minute in Domain A = 1 day in Domain B.
- Round 3: 1 minute in Domain A = 1 year in Domain B.
Scenario Hook: Players must repair the Sync Engine in Domain A before their friends in Domain B die of old age (which will happen in 5 minutes of Domain A time).
